The focus is mainly on UK markets, which are expected to deliver the greatest return on investment for Ayrshire and Arran. The Tourism Team undertake a range of niche marketing activities to support the projects being taken forward in the action plan. They work closely with the wider tourism industry and with business groups to help improve individual marketing efforts through collaborative marketing campaigns that are targeted to key visitor segments and that showcase and promote the region. Currently consumer marketing is undertaken by VisitScotland.
The Tourism Team in conjunction with Ayrshire & Arran industry partners showcase and promote the region annually at VisitScotland Expo, which took place in Abderdeen on 22nd & 23rd Arpil 2015. The event attracts over 800 national and international buyers.
Ricoh Women’s British Open - The Ayrshire & Arran Tourism Team showcased the region at the Ricoh Women’s British Open 2014 at Royal Birkdale Golf Club, Southport 10th–13th of July 2014 – attended by 42,200 visitors. The team secured the best position for the stand and a design consistent with the Ayrshire & Arran brand and ensured that the stand was engaging and inviting to the audience attending and to reposition Ayrshire golf for a key market segment.
Ricoh Women’s British Open 29th July – 2nd August 2015 - Planning is currently underway for the showcasing of Ayrshire & Arran at the Women’s Open at Trump Turnberry.
The Open Championship 13th July – 19th July 2015 - Planning is currently underway for the showcasing at St Andrews, part of the pre marketing to The Open in Troon, 10th – 17th July 2016. This is a partnership project between Ayrshire & Arran Tourism, Fife Council and VisitScotland.
